THE INTRODUCTION
An art essay introduction is made up of 4 main points -
1. Make a general statement that reveals your understanding of the question.
it could be as easy as restating the question.
EXAMPLE: An artists distinctive style can often be recognised by their use of symbols and reoccurring
themes.
2. Introduce the artists, that you will be writing about and what type of artist they are. That is are they painters,
sculptors etc?
EXAMPLE: This essay, will focus on the art of Frida Kahlo....etc
3. TAKE A STAND - Make a a big statement. It doesn't need to be long, just a big statement!
EXAMPLE: " Artists use symbols and themes to represent ideas, concepts, beliefs, attitudes, or feelings."
4. Elaborate on this stance.
EXAMPLE: by understanding these symbols and themes, we as viewers can gain knowledge of an intention and helps distinguish one artist from another
